Cognitive Science . . .
…is the interdisciplinary study of minds, brains and behaviour. Many disciplines contribute to this overarching goal, including, but not restricted to, Psychology, Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Neuroscience, Linguistics, and Anthropology.
At University College Dublin, we offer a one year taught masters degree in Cognitive Science, leading to an M.Sc. The taught masters can be taken over two years if studying part-time. Inquiries about other options within cognitive science should be addressed to fred.cummins@ucd.ie.
Cognitive Science is normally taught at the postgraduate level. However we also provide an undergraduate module entitled “COMP 20090: An Introduction to Cognitive Science”, taught in the Spring semester. The course webpage is here.
The School of Philosophy also has a related one year taught MA in Philosophy of Mind and Embodied Cognition
The School of Psychology has a new one year taught MSc programme in Behavioural Neuroscience. Online information is available here, and a brochure with further details is here.
Please note: Cognitive science as we teach it is not to be confused with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Our degree programmes are not a preparation for a counselling qualification and are not part of any accredited psychological career pathway.
