Cognitive Science at UCD

Cognitive Science . . .

…is the interdisciplinary study of minds, brains and behaviour. Many disciplines contribute to this overarching goal, including, but not restricted to, Psychology, Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Neuroscience, Linguistics, and Anthropology.

At University College Dublin, we offer a one year taught masters degree in Cognitive Science, leading to an M.Sc. From academic year 2026/2027, the cognitive science programme will be run through the School of Philosophy. All inquiries should be directed to the course directors Leda Berio (leda.berio@ucd.ie) and Keith Wilson (keith.a.wilson@ucd.ie).

The taught masters can be taken over two years if studying part-time.

The School of Philosophy also has a related one year taught MA in Philosophy of Mind and Embodied Cognition.

Please note: Cognitive science as we teach it is not to be confused with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Our degree programmes are not a preparation for a counselling qualification and are not part of any accredited psychological career pathway.
